Explore Wildlife Safari in Rajaji Tiger Reserve
Rajaji National Park or Rajaji Tiger Reserve was established in 1983 after merging three wildlife sanctuaries of Uttarakhand: Rajaji, Motichur and Chilla. Later Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary was also included.
The park was named after famous freedom fighter C. Rajagopalachari. The total area of Rajaji Tiger Reserve is about 820 sq km. In 2015, approximately 255 sq km area was added as buffer zone under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
Today the total area of Rajaji Tiger Reserve is about 1075 sq km. The park spreads across three districts of Uttarakhand — Dehradun, Haridwar and Pauri Garhwal.
